A Guide to Using Twitter and Other Social Media
The Grade 7's are currently doing an IDU (Interdisciplinary Unit) with Science and English. Part of the requirements has them using Twitter to share information and connect with experts or Tweeple who are interested in the same topic.
This is the start of a presentation I made to help them understand how to use social media for this project and in general as well.

I like how you added the convo about who to follow. I once had students who chose to create a podcast highlighting sports broadcasting and were shocked that by following sports reporters and reaching out respectfully, they were actually able to connect and interview some. I wish there were more teachers showing students how powerful social media can be to connect them to the world in a positive way!

ReplyDeleteThat is something I am also getting used to when using social media as well. A few weeks ago I got into a conversation with a Professor of Genetics at a university on his research about chromosomes. All I did was ask him to explain his Tweet!
